Writer takes time for garden tour
I don't usually consider gardening as one of my favorite things to do, but recently I went with my family to a big gardening event at the Demonstration Garden of the Leon County Extension Center. It was the spring open house where people could walk around the gardens, go on tours led by master gardeners and eat refreshments.
There were a lot more people there than you'd expect. Everywhere you looked you saw a volunteer, and then every few feet there was a visitor. Just as there were lots of people, there were tons of flowers and plants. I wondered how long it took for them to get the gardens that big!
The tours were very informative. They talked about all the plants there and how those plants survived. You could also get booklets and other items like that. If you didn't get to go to the open house, you can always go there anytime you'd like or there's a fall open house that's currently scheduled for October 24. I had an enjoyable time there and I might come back soon.
