To grandmother's house we went
This past weekend I went to my Grandma's house for a short trip. My uncle was there, too, and one thing I like the most about having my uncle around us is the stories he tells.
One of the stories he told was when he was younger and wanted to find out how cars worked. He wanted to get under a car to look up at it, but the only time he could do that was when he was at his babysitter's house.
His babysitter's neighbor had an old car in her backyard, but it was taken over by her chickens. To get under the car, he had to put some crackers at one side of the neighbor's yard for the chickens and then run to the other side where the car was. He did this, but while he was studying the car, the homeowner came out and told him to go back to his babysitter's. Just the way he told the story to us was funny!
Another story he told also happened at his babysitter's house when he was very young. He and his brother would go to bed at the babysitter's house, and later they woke up in their own house. Of course, they were little and couldn't figure out how they got there.
So one day, they decided that one of them should stay up and see what happened. My uncle stayed up just long enough to witness his parents carry them to the car. He did not realize how they got from their car to their beds until they were older!
There are a lot more funny stories he's told and a lot more to be told, so I look forward to seeing my uncle again to hear some more stories!
