This writer hopes tropical storms are on the wane

Tropical Storm Fay, moving at a slow speed, flooded parts of Florida and made landfall four times. Although not a hurricane, the storm did a lot of damage in Tallahassee.

Where I was it did not flood much because there are a lot of ponds and lower vacant areas, but I heard that some areas around town got a few feet of flooding.

My neighborhood pond is a few feet higher than it usually is, and has overflowed its banks in some places. After the storm let up, I walked down there. It was incredibly high; higher than I had ever seen it. There's a gazebo out into the pond that was practically touching the water. One of our neighbors who lives next to the pond was putting little Lego boats in a puddle when my dad and brother arrived.

The storm Fay brought many issues: fallen trees and limbs, canceled school and more.

Hopefully that is the last we'll see of tropical developments and hurricanes for this year.
