Swarm of pesky bugs make for one unpleasant nature hike

Earlier this month I went on a hike with my family through the Lafayette Heritage Trails.

I’m not the kind of person that enjoys hiking a lot, but I went anyway to give me something to do during my spring break.

What I found on these paths were both pleasant and unpleasant at the same time. At one point, between Lakes Lafayette and Piney-Z, there was a huge mob of bugs. I didn’t know what kind of insect they were or why they were there; all I knew was that they were really annoying. We finally just had to run out of the swarm because it was almost unbearable. These flies were crawling all over us, flying around in our eyes and hair, they were everywhere! If I ever go back on that trail I’ll probably be on a bicycle so I can go through there quickly.

Aside from all that bug confusion, the walk was pretty nice. There was a lake along most of it and lots of nature. My mom enjoyed all the plants and flowers, while I liked all the huge trees.

The trails start and end at a couple places but the main entrance is at the Lafayette Heritage Trail Park right here in Tallahassee. I’m not too keen on the area with all the bugs but the rest of the place was excellent.
