Saturday Morning Physics
On many Saturdays this fall, around a hundred people come to experience a science program called the Saturday Morning Physics. This is essentially a lecture that college professors from FSU talk about a certain aspect of physics. From waves to magnets, usually there are eight lectures each fall. Unfortunately, they have already ended the Saturday Morning Physics until next fall.
Most of the lectures are held in a large lecture hall of FSU's physics department. A few smart guys get up in front of everybody and start discussing the topic. They usually show slides, models, and experiments during the program. A lot of people don't want to attend a long lecture on an empty stomach. That's why anyone who comes gets free donuts and orange juice!
Many school teachers will give extra credit for attending this event. I have gone a few times for extra credit and I now have more than 100 percent in science. The Saturday Morning Physics program is a great opportunity for young scientists to get pumped up about physics (or just get overweight on donuts).
