Jacksonville makes for nice vacation spot

Jacksonville. It's not the biggest tourist destination, but it still attracts tourists, tourists like my family. We went to Jacksonville for a couple days and found that it had lots of neat bridges, beaches and, my mom's favorite, stores.

One of the things that we did in Jacksonville was swimming on the beach. The spot that we swam on was actually the part that splits Neptune Beach from Atlantic Beach — at first we were a little confused to see to different lifeguards!

Since we were swimming in the Atlantic Ocean, the waves were really big. "Baby tsunamis," I called them. The highest waves might have been just about 7 feet high, but they were big to me.

Another place that we went to while we were in Jacksonville was a place called "The Landing." The Landing was big, nice line of stores right on the St. John's River and amongst the tall buildings of Jacksonville, Florida. Most of the stores were connected to some big hallways, but there were some stores outside, too. At one point we were standing outside when we saw three or four helicopters fly by pretty quickly.

The hotel we stayed at was pretty nice. We actually stayed in a small suite at the top floor, the sixth story. The suite was made of two double beds and a desk on one side and a couch and some end tables on the other side of the room. Of course, it had some other features like a rotating TV, a bathroom, a closet, and most of those other things a hotel room should have.

As I mentioned before, there were lots of stores. There was one place that my mom loved that had every store you can think of — Dillard's, Barnes and Noble, Abercrombie and Fitch, Ethan Allen, Target, Ballard Designs, Pier 1 Imports, and the list could go on forever! We just don't have big shopping centers like that here in Tallahassee!

There were lots of other things that we did in Jacksonville, including a ferry boat ride and nice restaurants, but it would take hours for me to write this if I mentioned everything! So, I look forward to visiting Jacksonville again.
