Cub Scouts march in inaugural parade

Our Cub Scout pack was one of the two packs that got to march in the inaugural parade.

It started when we all met at the Tallahassee Civic Center parking lot. Everybody who was in the parade had to be there by 11 a.m. to register. More than two hours later, we all got assembled and in our places for the parade.

Our Cub Master reminded us that our pack represented all the packs in the state. Finally, we started moving. There was all this horse manure from Disney World's horse-drawn calliope. But luckily, all the Scouts were right behind this huge firetruck that would help get most of the stuff up.

Later on in the parade, we passed the sanctuary I go to every Sunday, and I saw the minister and a few other people who were on its porch. As we marched on, I saw a friend from school watching the parade. I proudly waved at him, and he waved back.

Seconds later, I saw my kindergarten teacher in the audience. Again, I waved at her. Soon we got to the Governor's Mansion. Charlie Crist, the new governor, was standing outside in the crowd with his friends, Sen. Bill Nelson and a few other Florida executives.

After that, the parade ended, and my dad and I walked around and sampled a few free foods from booths. Later on, we got in our car and drove home. Boy, I had a fun time.

I really like Cub Scouts because it is fun and gives me a lot of privileges such as camping, marching in parades and more.
