Beach was a sweet treat

I recently went on a short, one-day vacation to the beach. My family and I traveled to St. George Island to swim and enjoy the coastal community.

We packed our stuff and left early one Friday morning. We finally came to the bridge that connects the island to the mainland, and drove over it, through the town, to the St. George Island State Park. Once there, everyone changed and then we went swimming in the Gulf of Mexico.

After swimming, my family and I went back to our car and got the picnic lunch that we arranged before leaving home. We walked over to some picnic tables and started eating lunch.

Later our trip took us to Apalachicola. We walked around all the small shops downtown, and then got some ice cream at the best (and probably the only) creamery in the city. It was crowded in there, but, considering their ice cream, that's not surprising.

I had a great time visiting that area of Florida!
