As school lets out for summer, odd dreams of school persist
Before school ended, I kept having vivid dreams about what would happen when school would let out. Since it was so close to the end of the school year, I was excited about summer vacation.
One of the first dreams I had like this took place on school campus during the last day of school. In my dream, a teacher sent me on an errand to the media center, so I walked over there and gave some papers to the librarian. As I walked back into the hallway, the bell rang. The last bell of the year. All of a sudden, all of the doors flung open and rowdy kids starting screaming and running around. "Summer!" everyone was yelling. Some students received detentions that would be held on the first day of school next year. I rushed back into the classroom to get my stuff, and then walked home for the last time for three months.
The next dream I had took place the following Monday, when school was out. For some unexplained reason, I got to go over to my cousins' house for the day. We played in their pool (which in reality doesn't exist), then I was sucked into a small hole in the bottom. I was just about to pass out, but then I could breathe again. I was back at school, in regular clothes, with a backpack, and a sign saying "2009-2010 school year." At that point I purposely woke up.
My last dream was in an unstable setting. Everything about it kept on going back and forth – at one point I was in school, hoping that summer would never come, and later I was in summer camp and I was extremely glad that school was out. Then I was back in school again and it was like the first dream I talked about.
Dreams only last a few seconds. That's hard to believe because so much goes on in them.
I am enjoying summer very much but I am also looking forward to going back to school next year.
